They specialize in instruments for schools and young children but also can meet the needs of other musicians both amateur and professional. Efficient and quick place to pick up an instrument. I rented a cello from there. I appreciated the quick service but would have liked a more thorough inspection and introduction to the cello.
The wait can be long on the weekends but they take care of you and the know their violins and strings instruments. Prices are reasonable too. They have a pretty quick turn around time with service.
I have been going to kaminoto strings for about 4 years- since Ive started playing the violin. I truly recommend this place to anyone looking for a string instrument for a good price. I love this place and its environment. Best quality violins in the Bay Area. Exceptionally knowledgeable, and have a large variety of instruments up and down the price scale. Ive been going here for quite a few years, both for renting cellos, fixing basses, or buying anything I need. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and they really do have your best interests at heart! I definitely recommend Kamimoto Strings to everyone.
Anything to do with string instruments in the South Bay? Wonderful service here. They repaired my violin, restringed, new sound peg, and threw in a free strap for my case to boot! All within a day! I returned my rental violin on August 11th. They did not give my refund right away. Instead, they told me they will cut the check to me at end of the month.
I wait until September and they still did not gave me the check. So I called again. They told me they will cut the check right away. Now it is almost Christmas. They still did not give me my refund. This is really bad ways of dealing with customer. Never had this issue with any other business before. Waited for service for half an hour, and when I received service it was rushed. The instruments were mostly overpriced, damaged starters. This is kind of only place for repairing string instruments.
Their customer service is not really good but no choice. I visit San Jose frequently and always rent a cello when Im here so I can practice. I like the shop and the staff.

The bridge was flattened out and looked it had multiple repairs done to it. They raised the A string with parchment because it was It was a smooth process, no problems at all, and the price was pretty reasonable.
